SMM, September 29: This survey on galvanized sheet holiday arrangements involved 20 enterprises with a total capacity of 19.34 million mt. According to SMM, most enterprises will maintain normal production during the National Day holiday. Only one enterprise in the sample will halt production for three days due to regular maintenance, affecting zinc consumption by 328.77 mt. Overall, the holiday situation will remain at last year's level.
In terms of orders, the performance of various galvanized sheet sectors was somewhat mediocre this year. Recently, although the recovery in ferrous metals prices and the market sentiment of "rush to purchase amid continuous price rise and hold back amid price downturn" boosted orders for some enterprises, most galvanized sheet manufacturers lacked confidence in the sustainability of this order increase. Additionally, amid ongoing cut-throat competition in the industry, order profits were unsatisfactory.
Regarding raw material inventory, this week coincided with a significant rise in zinc and ferrous metals prices. Enterprises, wary of high prices, mainly stocked up based on immediate needs, with overall raw material inventory just sufficient for holiday production. SMM will continue to monitor the subsequent operations of galvanized sheet enterprises.
